Wine, Viez (apple wine), fine brandies - regional quality in a glass

The bottled regional products in Saarschleifenland are dominated by wine from the slopes of the Moselle and apple products from the meadow orchards. Fruity Burgundy wines, apple wine (Viez) and fine brandies offer unforgettable moments of enjoyment.

The wine-growing area in Saarschleifenland is small but of a very high standard. High-quality wines are produced by around a dozen wine growers. Pinot Blanc varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc or Pinot Gris are the most common types of grape used in these wines from the Upper Moselle. One particular speciality is the Auxerrois grape only found in a few wine-growing regions. The vines stand on shell limestone soil. The wines are fruity and fresh and can be paired very well with a variety of dishes.

In Saarschleifenland, apple wine is known as Viez. This beverage can be dry or sweet, still or sparkling. And it is even available made from other fruit such as pears. Whatever the type, it is always pressed from fruit grown in meadow orchards and bottled by small craft businesses. A genuine regional speciality.
The numerous fine fruit brandies from the region are also special and of high quality. Mirabelle plum, Williams “Quetsch” (damson) or the legendary “Hundsärsch” (the crab apple-like fruit medlar) satisfy the palates of even the most discerning gourmets.

The region in a glass. Cheers!
