St Martinus is a solid post-war church with a clear, modern spatial concept, rich artistic decoration and strong roots in the local religious tradition and community.
The current church was built between 1947 and 1954 under the direction of the Cologne cathedral architect Willy Weyres after the previous church was damaged in the Second World War and the tower was blown up.
It is characterised by a modern, pillar-free nave and a striking blue and red rose window above the entrance portal (from Chartres).
The church is embedded in the religious tradition of Tünsdorf - once a medieval centre in the Saargau, with St. Martin's festivals, Lourdes grotto and parish festivals.
