The Quirinus Chapel was built in 1712 next to a well. This ancient spring on the "Zuckerknupp" is said to have been worshipped as a shrine by the Celts.
St Quirinus, who gave his name to the chapel, is considered the patron saint of soldiers, an emergency helper for ulcers and skin diseases and the patron saint of horses. He has been venerated in the region around Perl since the 11th century. Believers made pilgrimages to the well because of the healing effects of the "Quirinus water" and even watered their cattle there.
Today, the chapel serves as a memorial to the victims of the two world wars. It is still used for religious services twice a year: During the Quirinus Ride on 1 May, a procession on horseback with a horse blessing, and when the war victims are honoured on Remembrance Day.
