Wegmarkierung
The highlights of this stage are the great view of the quiet stream valleys and the various rock formations on the way to Weiskirchen, the highest village in the Saarland. The stage ends at the natural swimming pool. Always good for a refreshing dip after this up-and-down stage.
Wegbeschreibung
This very eventful stage has a challenging elevation profile. Therefore, an average of 3 kilometers per hour should be planned. It begins with the ascent from the reservoir to Scheiden, the highest village in the Saarland. At the “Sinnenbänke” lookout point, you have a spectacular panoramic view of the Saarland. It continues down into the wild Lannenbach Valley. The route leads over several rock formations and past the Kneipp facility with a fishing pond, always slightly uphill. Over another mountain range, we approach the rustic valley of the Hölzbach with the Teufelsfelsen and reach the historic bakehouse in Waldhölzbach. The route then climbs more steeply over the Engelsfelsen until you reach the Rappweiler wildlife park with numerous animals, including bison. The route continues through the wild and romantic Hölzbach valley, past impressive rock formations to Weiskirchen and the swimming pool. A 1.5 km long access road leads to the center of Weiskirchen.
Ausrüstung
The Saar-Hunsrück Climb is a trail close to nature, with 65% of the trail leading over soft forest floors, grassy paths or along streams. However, this special quality can also lead to problems after long periods of rain, making parts of the trail difficult to walk on. That is why sturdy shoes are highly recommended.
