From Trauntal, the trail climbs steadily, mainly along narrow paths in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. First we pass the "Ochsenbruch" raised bog and the legendary "Siegfried Spring" (Nibelungen saga). After 14 km, we reach the summit of the "Erbeskopf", the highest elevation in Rhineland-Palatinate at 816 m. From the impressive "Windklangskulptur" we can enjoy an impressive view as far as the Eifel. Now the descent to the Hunsrückhaus below the summit begins.
After the long and strenuous climb from Börfink, we can split the stage and be picked up by our hosts in Thalfang at the Hunsrückhaus pick-up point.
As we continue through the densely wooded region, we pass under the first viaduct of the Hunsrück Railway. Shortly before the village of Morscheid, a varied cultural landscape begins. Another highlight is the imposing Hunsrück Railway viaduct near Hoxel. This is one of the highest single-storey stone railroad bridges in Germany. An interesting route allows us to experience the impressive structure from different angles. At the end of the stage, we reach the "Ortelsbruch" recreational area. We hike over footbridges through this low mountain moor and discover unique flora and fauna. After approx. 1.5 km, we arrive in the stage town of Morbach.
