Wegbeschreibung
The 15th stage of the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig leads from Forellenhof Reinhardtsmühle, on the outskirts of the village of Bundenbach, through the Hahnenbach Valley to Rhaunen.
At Forellenhof Reinhardtsmühle we find a parking lot for hikers and can start our tour directly from there. The Saar-Hunsrück-Steig runs here parallel to the Soonwaldsteig and also to the Traumschleife Hahnenbachtal Tour.
We start through the Hahnenbach valley, where we reach a vantage point with a beautiful view of the Schmidtburg castle ruins after a short time. We continue to the Celtic settlement of Altburg, where the paths of the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig and the Soonwaldsteig separate again. We hike the Hahnenbach valley a bit more before we enter the Idarbach valley. We now follow the Idarbach to Rhaunen. Sometimes a bit distant, sometimes directly along the stream. In the last part it goes over the Wartenberg, which offers beautiful views of Rhaunen and surroundings at some points. The stage destination is thus reached.
Ausrüstung
The Saar-Hunsrück Climb is a natural path that is on soft forest floor, grass paths or alongside streams for 65% of its route. But this special quality can result in problems after long periods of rain, making parts of the route difficult to walk. We therefore recommend wearing sturdy shoes
Sicherheitshinweise
