Saar-Hunsrück Climb - 24th Leg: Oppenhausen - Udenhausen – Boppard

The first part of the leg runs parallel with the “Hasenkammer” Dream Loop. All around Herrschwiesen we experience a rural idyll with agricultural space used as orchards and some beautiful views. Then we cross the wooded Brodenbachtal with long ascents and descents. The route then goes via a plateau through agricultural areas to Udenhausen where we cross the A61 at the end of the village. We ascend the Horstkopf, which offers wide views of the Eifel and Hunsrück. It then continues through varied forests towards the Middle Rhine Valley. For the last 3 km we walk in parallel to the “Mittelrhein-Klettersteig” Dream Loop. Two pubs with glorious views towards the World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley and the big Rhine loop are found on the route. We then descend towards Boppard with lots of views; we can also complete the final part in the parallel chair lift. Boppard invites to stay another night with its numerous attractions. From Boppard station there are good train and bus connections for arrival and departure.
