Düppenweiler historic copper mine
During a visit to the copper mine, you can enter the underground world of the Düppenweiler visitor mine via the new Barbara shaft. The underground tours only take place on Saturdays/Sundays at 2 pm and 4 pm. Outside of these times, please book in advance with the Beckingen municipal administration (06835/550).
Around 600 metres of tunnels and 4 shafts with depths of 10 to 18 metres were uncovered and provided with shaft superstructures. The underground tours present the centrepieces of the mine with the "Mystallica" light and sound installation, such as the cathedral, the underground lake and the machine shaft. Above ground, you can visit the copper smelter, which was built according to historical models, including the punching plant, smelter and machinery.
