Jacoby fruit growing/tree nursery
Our fruit farm is located on the ridge between the Moselle and Saar rivers. Here we cultivate species-rich orchards with a variety of different fruit varieties.
The Romans once brought wine culture to us and this is how the tradition of apple wine, the Vice Vinum, the second wine, came about.
When there were no grapes available, apples were used to make Vice Vinum, or Viez. At our winery, Saargauer Viez is traditionally made from Viez apples. We refine this into our Vice Vinum - an apple-quince Viez with a great flavour - and our Red Viez, an apple-pear-elderberry Viez.
Fine distillates and liqueurs are produced in the farm's own distillery and our spirits are matured in glass balloons or wooden barrels. Our heart beats especially for sparkling drinks. We produce an apple-pear Champus, the Äppelprickler and an apple-pear Secco, our Saarschleifenwasser, using the classic bottle fermentation and maturing process in the rock cellar. For all our products, sun-ripened fruit is gently processed with flavour. Our shell limestone soils and the hilly landscape are the suppliers of the variety of flavours. The apple juice pressed in this way is characterised by a fruity taste and an enjoyable interplay of sweetness and acidity. It also forms the basis for the production of our apple vinegar and balsamic apple vinegar.
