It is named after the Trier merchant and banker Georg Friedrich Job von Nell, who acquired it at the beginning of the 19th century. It remained in the possession of the von Nell family until 1982 and is still privately owned today. Palais von Nell can only be viewed from the outside from the street.
Park with baroque garden
On the opposite side of the street, a double flight of steps and a wrought-iron gate lead to Nell Park, a large recreational park. The lower part of the park was redesigned into a low baroque garden with a central fountain according to old plans as part of the "Gardens without borders" project. Nell Park covers an area of 2,900 square metres and is open all year round.
