This e-bike tour explores this open, park-like landscape and passes several top sights along the way.
The landscape in the western Saarschleifenland in the border triangle of Germany, France and Luxembourg is characterised by the Moselle and Saar rivers and the hills in between.
The route starts at the railway station in Perl in the immediate vicinity of the banks of the Moselle opposite the European town of Schengen in Luxembourg. Through Perl and the picturesque wine village of Sehndorf with its stately vineyards and orchards, the route climbs up to the Saargau. In Borg, the Roman villa complex is definitely worth a visit, as it is the only completely reconstructed Roman estate of this size in the world. The Villa Borg tavern invites you to stop for a bite to eat with regional and Roman specialities.
The tour continues through meadows and fields via Hellendorf to Büschdorf. In Büschdorf, one of our gourmet stops with regional specialities awaits at the local boules court. The route continues to Orscholz and the Cloef, the famous viewpoint of the Saar Loop. A visit to the treetop path there offers an even steeper view of the river loop and a stop at the Regiothek in the Cloef Atrium promises interesting wine tastings. Via Faha and Tettingen-Butzdorf with the Saarland Distillery Museum, the trail leads back over the heights of the Saargau with sweeping views as far as Luxembourg. Finally, the route descends back into the Moselle valley. Nennig is a good place for another stop, as the largest Roman mosaic north of the Alps can be marvelled at here. The route then leads along the Moselle back to Perl railway station, where you can recap your e-bike tour over a glass of Perl wine.
