Saar-Hunsrück Climb – 04. Stage: Britten – Bergen – Losheim Reservoir

From Britten, the route first leads uphill, past seemingly endless mountain meadows. Once at the top, wide views impress. After crossing the B 268, the route also descends through meadowland into the idyllic Pansbachtal valley. It continues along narrow paths along the Pansbach to the Girtenmühle and the small town of Bergen.

After a stop at the resting place by the pond in Bergen, the route continues into the next valley of the romantic Rotenbach. There, the path leads for the most part along a narrow path directly past the stream. We now cross a ridge and then have a view of large parts of Saarland. The trail then winds its way along fern meadows, forest ponds, an abandoned quarry and through beech forests into the valley of the Metzerbach. The route then leads along winding paths, mostly along the course of the stream, towards the Losheim reservoir. There we first come across a wonderful Kneipp facility with a barefoot path and then approach the shore of Lake Losheim via a very varied route, which we leave again briefly through a wooded area and then return to the lake to reach the “Park of the Four Seasons”. The stage ends at the tourist information office right on the lake.

The Saar-Hunsrück Climb is a trail close to nature, with 70% of the route leading over soft forest soil, grassy paths or along streams. However, this special quality can also lead to problems after long periods of rain, making parts of the trail difficult to walk on. That is why sturdy shoes are highly recommended.
